Orangefield High School seniors in the Patient Care Technician program have recently completed their clinical rotations at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas - Beaumont. They were able to shadow providers on an array of units and gain experience and knowledge of how the hospital system as a whole performs sacred work. This has been an invaluable experience for each student, as they have had the opportunity to bridge classroom knowledge into the real world of healthcare. Students were placed across the hospital in a variety of fields such as EKG, Radiology, general nursing units, Labor and Delivery, and the Operating Room. Not only did they learn about the procedures and equipment used in these areas, but they were able to interact with staff and patients to enhance their communication skills. Thank you Baptist Hospital for welcoming the students, this was a great experience for all!

Students in Mrs. Kimberly Spears' OHS Ready, Set, Teach program traveled over to Lamar University's Student Summit for CTE students on Friday. Students were able to hear from both Student and Faculty Discussion Panels about careers in Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Nursing. We were invited by, and so happy to see, former RST students Mary and Maddie Wernig. Mary, Speech & Hearing Sciences Major, made us so proud by being the student moderator of the Faculty Discussion Panel.
