Orangefield High School would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Richardson, Principal of Orangefield Junior High, and the entire OJH staff for their collaboration with the OHS Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department in making the recent 8th grade campus visit a wonderful success. Their support in allowing students to visit the high school provided a valuable opportunity for students to experience firsthand the many pathways and possibilities that await them at the next level.
It was truly a pleasure welcoming the 8th graders to campus. The students were exceptionally well behaved, respectful, and engaged throughout the visit. They represented Orangefield Junior High with pride, demonstrating a strong commitment to learning as they were introduced to the wide range of CTE programs offered at Orangefield High School, including Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems, Animal Science, Business Management, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services, Family and Community Services, Graphic Design and Interactive Media, Teaching and Training, and Plant Science.
A special thank you is also extended to Mrs. Kimberly Spears, FCCLA Sponsor, along with the FCCLA student officers and members, for leading the 8th graders through the CTE classes and helping make the experience informative, engaging, and enjoyable.
We are grateful for this partnership and for the important role Orangefield Junior High plays in preparing students for a successful transition to high school. We look forward to continuing to work together to support our students and showcase the opportunities available to them as they move forward.

OHS Ready, Set, Teach students would like to thank former RST student and 2025 graduate, Lanie Rush, for coming back and speaking! Lanie is proudly employed by Apple Tree and was able to share how her RST experience has benefited her. She did a great job, and we always appreciate having former students return and share their real world applications!

The OHS district round of the Stark Reading Contest took place on Monday 1/12.
In Interpretive Reading, the second place winner, earning a $2,000 scholarship is junior Tessa Bailey. Taking first place, earning $2,500 and advancing to the county round is senior Brynlee South.
In Declamation, the second place winner, earning a $2,000 scholarship is sophomore Carter Munson-Appleby. Taking first place, earning $2,500 and advancing to the county round is senior Devan Eason.
The first place competitors from each category will advance to the county round on Tuesday, February 3rd where they will compete for 1st and 2nd place scholarships of up to an additional $6,500.

Orangefield High School was honored to welcome Mr. Milton Briggs and Mr. Larry Spears from DOW as they visited Orangefield High School to introduce students to the 2026 Dow Apprenticeship application, which is now open.
During their visit, Mr. Briggs and Mr. Spears provided students with valuable insight into the Dow Apprenticeship program, outlining the application process, eligibility requirements, and the long term career pathways available through Dow. They highlighted how the apprenticeship offers students the opportunity to earn, learn, and build industry recognized skills while working alongside experienced professionals in a world class industrial environment.
In addition to discussing the apprenticeship program, the Dow representatives shared information about the wide range of opportunities Dow provides for its employees, including career advancement, professional training, competitive benefits, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and innovation.
Mr. Briggs and Mr. Spears also emphasized Dow’s ongoing support of the local community. Dow’s investment in education, workforce development, and community partnerships plays a vital role in strengthening the region and preparing the next generation for successful careers in industry.

High school students selected to perform in All-State concerts have competed through auditions to qualify at the state level. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve. Students are selected through a multi-level adjudication process that begins with about 60,000 students from around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 18 ensembles.
Texas Music Educators Association sponsors the Texas All-State competition. This competitive process begins throughout the state in auditions hosted by 33 TMEA Regions. Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advances from their Region to compete against musicians from other areas in five ATSSB Area competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the ATSSB Area competitions qualify to perform in a ATSSB All-State music group. Only the top 3% of musicians who initially audition become All-State musicians.
Directed by nationally recognized conductors, All-State students participate in four days of rehearsals during the TMEA Clinic/Convention. Their performances for thousands of attendees bring this extraordinary event to a close. Evan and the ATSSB Concert Band will perform in the Lila Cockrell Theatre at 8:30am on Saturday February 14th.

RYLA is a challenging leadership development program organized by local Rotary Clubs to build character, teamwork, communication, and service ethics through workshops, outdoor challenges, and motivational speakers.
Our students had a great time and are ready to showcase their new leadership skills!

OHS students in the Child Development and Patient Care Technician courses traveled to LSCO for some hands-on learning. Students were able to participate in the simulation of a delivery and infant care after birth, as well as pediatric and adult simulation scenarios. The students greatly enjoyed the opportunity to put some of their classroom learning to the test. Thank you to the LSCO Nursing Department for welcoming us and investing in our students!
On Monday, December 8, several members of Orangefield's Uprising Club spent the day sorting toys to help the Bridge City/Orangefield Ministerial Alliance. The students enjoy participating in this activity every year during Toy Week. It is a great opportunity for them to serve in their community.
The Bridge City-Orangefield Ministerial Alliance is a non-profit, faith-based organization that has been serving our local communities since 1998. It is a collaboration of 17 local churches. They are funded by the support of these member churches, amazing school & community support, & by grants. Each Christmas Season, the Ministerial Alliance provides clothing and shoes for children 0-12th Grade, and toys for Newborn - 5th Grade. Occasionally, they will also have items on-hand that will be gifted if a family experiences an emergency. The toys and gifts are received from member churches, Christmas in July through those churches, float entry “fees” from the Bridge City Christmas Parade, the Orangefield Secret Santa Program, local businesses, various community organizations and individuals, and fundraisers held throughout the year. Shoes for the high school-aged children are generally provided by the Ministerial Alliance, or donors on their behalf. Clothing (for all ages) and shoes for the younger children (0-5th Grade) are provided by the churches/church members who participate in their annual Angel Tree Program. The Ministerial Alliance credits the success of this program to the amazing support & hard work that they receive from the generous support listed above, their toy chairmen and their teams, and the involvement from our local churches and schools. Toy Week simply would not be possible without all of these working parts.
