Last week, students in Ms. Oliver's 6th grade Science classes researched and built their own catapults. They used their knowledge of force and motion to perfect their build. On Friday, they put their catapults to the test. There were so many awesome catapults and every single one was successful at launching!

On Monday, the OJH Lady Cats hosted the Kirbyville Wildcats. The 7th grade B-team had a rocky start but fought hard to finish the first set. Molly Cheek led the team in serves with six aces and an assist. Paisley Stelly added two aces and a kill. The Lady Bobcats fell to Kirbyville in three sets. The 7th grade A-team came out ready to play! The top servers were Ariana Wolf with seven serves and one ace, and Maizey Jaynes with eight serves and three aces. Defensive leaders on the back row were Rylee Ramierez and Zoe Carroll. Leading the front row was Lalynn Granger with three attacks and one kill, and Presley Gilbeaux with three attacks. The Cats won both sets, (25-11) (25-19). The 8th grade B-team completely dominated the Wildcats, winning the first set 15-3. Melissa Saucedo-Mendoza and Aspen Babin teamed up for the onslaught attack in serves. Addison LeBlanc started and finished the second set to serve a COMPLETE GAME! Leblanc's consistency gave the Bobcats a 15-0 win over the Wildcats in the second set! The 8th grade A-team closed the night with a great win over the Wildcats. The Cats lost the first set (16-25), but it set the stage for a glorious comeback! The Cats took the second set (25-9). Leaders for the second set were Jocelynn Droddy in serves, Laila Agerton in kills, and Ava Josephson in attacks, with a Happy Birthday to boot! Karlie Traxler was the great defender of the net with three Happy Birthdays, as well! In the third set, the Bobcats never let the Wildcats gain their footing. Avery Seals used her captain's voice to make smart decisions that allowed the Cats to keep possession. The Bobcats won the third set, (15-6). The final away game for the season will be at Buna next Monday.

Making Homecoming mums and garters is an important part of the floral design industry, so Mrs. Looney's 8th grade Principles of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources classes got to demonstrate their abilities by making a 10-foot tall Homecoming Mum! The "Mega Mum" was made using cardboard, butcher paper, and coffee filters and took over 11 hours to complete!

Last night, the OJH Bobcats made the trip to Tarkington to take on the Longhorns. The 7th grade took the field first, and they came out on fire! The offense was led by Kaysen Click, who scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and converted a two-point conversion. Click also made a beautiful 35-yard pass that was caught by Major Butler to give the Bobcats fantastic field position. Andrew Burt shrugged off one tackler and took it to the house for a 41-yard touchdown. The defense was led by Lawrence Steiner and Dawsen Revia who each led the way with a handful of tackles. The Cats took the win, 20-6! The 8th grade game was cut short due to an unfortunate injury of a Tarkington Longhorn player. The game ended with the Bobcats leading 15-0. In the short time the Bobcats were on the field, Hunter Reeves showed off his arm, airing it out for over 100 yards. Reeves connected with Logan Anderson for 36 yards and Jaxon Agerton for a 44-yard touchdown. Gage Lucas strolled around the end for another touchdown and immediately converted the two-point conversion. Kyran Morrow lined up the first kick of his career and split the uprights down the middle for the extra point. The defense pressured the quarterback all night long, with Kip Watkins forcing bad snap after bad snap. Grayson Rickenbrode recovered one of those fumbled snaps and had several sacks on the night. Case Comeaux also made his presence felt with a huge sack that stalled the defense on one of the opening drives. Next week, the Bobcats will be hosting the Hardin Hornets for Homecoming.
