Orangefield Junior High is home to the hardest-working staff in Texas! Our faculty works tirelessly to provide a safe, effective learning environment for each and every student. Many of our faculty members received nominations for this spotlight, but we want to take a moment to specifically highlight one of our hardest workers: Brandon Wells. Brandon is a part of our PM custodial crew that works hard to prepare us every tomorrow. Staff have found Brandon paying attention to tiny details that could very easily go overlooked. Every night, Brandon works hard to give our students a fresh learning environment in the morning. Thank you, Brandon Wells, and all of our custodians for your continued hard work!

On this Patriot Day, we honor the memory of those we lost. We would also like to express our gratitude to retired Marine Staff Sergeant Trice Luker for teaching OJH students to raise, lower, and fold our campus flags with respect and honor. Special thanks to our students Sophia Best, Adley Burch, Taina Feliciano, and Wynzlea Smith, who faithfully raise our flags each day and lead by example in keeping them at half-staff on solemn days like today.

Last week our OJH 7th-grade critical thinkers braved the Canadian Boreal Forest during ELA class. During their adventure, they encountered a Black Bear, a Swarm of Bees, Got Lost, and had to find shelter for the night. Then, they had to determine the best way to return home after overcoming all the obstacles. When each group survived, the media wanted to hear about it, so the hikers gave a press conference.
Our Bobcats showed impressive use of critical thinking skills and had a blast with this activity!

📘 Science in Action! Last week, our OJH students became junior chemists! Students made homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures, identified each type of mixture, and then modeled how to separate the mixtures. From creating their own mixtures to testing separation methods, our scientists-in-training showed incredible teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. 💡⚗️ Check out the pictures below of students mixing, identifying, and separating their creations — science learning at its best! 🌟
