Schedule Update

Thursday night, the OJH Lady Cats traveled to Kirbyville to take on the Wildcats.
The 7th grade B-team fought hard but ended the game in a 2-2 tie. Hadley O’Quinn led the Lady Bobcats with 2 points. Audrey Broussard was a defensive force, with 3 rebounds and 4 steals. Brynlee Bagget also had 4 steals and 1 rebound. Sarah McFatter pulled down 2 rebounds and had 1 steal. Kailynn McKay also added 1 rebound and 1 steal.
The 8th grade B-team shut out the Lady Wildcats with a score of 3-0. Millie Amy led the Lady Bobcats with 2 points and 1 steal. Addison Leblanc added 1 point, 1 block, 1 steal, and 1 rebound. Jocelyn Droddy led on the boards with 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Emma Bufford also contributed 1 rebound and 1 steal. Melissa Saucedo and Raleigh Forse each had one rebound, while Maya Manning and Avery Seals added to the strong defensive night with one steal each.
The 7th grade A-team defeated the Lady Wildcats, 24-0. Lakynn Granger led in scoring with 10 points and added 5 steals and 2 rebounds. Piper Pollet put up 6 points and 4 steals, and Ainsley McAplin added 4 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds.
The 8th grade A-team closed out the sweep with a 33-14 win over the Wildcats. The leading scorer was Ava Josephson with 16 points. She also contributed 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 blocks. Teal Kibodeaux had 8 points and 3 steals. Paxton Oldham created hardworking offensive looks while snagging 5 steals. Kinsley Moore led in rebounds, bringing down 7. This was a great team win for the Bobcats as they remain undefeated in district play with a 4-0 record.
There will be a home game against Buna on January 18th. We hope to see packed stands for your Lady Bobcats!

In her classroom, Coach McFatter teaches students on core values, teaches lessons based on students' real world interests , and coordinates with other teachers to ensure all of their instruction is supported. Last weekend, the OJH Lady Bobcats hosted the Bobcat Holiday Classic tournament.
The 7th grade A-team started the Classic against the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles. Lakynn Granger finished the game with 10 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal. Ainsley McAlpin added 4 points and 6 rebounds. Brooklyn Bishop was aggressive in the paint with 10 rebounds, 2 points, and an assist. The Lady Bobcats fell to the Eagles, 18-24. Next up, the Bobcats took on the C.O. Wilson Bullpups, winning 30-7. McAlpin played a strong game with 8 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. Granger provided 9 points, 2 steals, and an assist, and Bishop finished with 6 points, a steal, and a block.
The Lady Bobcats; final game of the tournament was against the Hardin Jefferson Lady Hawks. Granger was a force on the court with 16 points, 6 steals, and 2 rebounds. McAlpin added 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist, and 2 points. Karah Spain finished the game with 4 points and 3 rebounds. The Cats defeated the Hawks, 30 - 14, securing the 3rd place spot in the tournament.
The 8th grade A-team took on two talented Barbers Hill teams. The Cats learned a great deal and look forward to applying it to their 3-0 district record. The Lady Cats will take on the Kirbyville Wildcats on January 11th.
Last week, Mrs. Luker's Texas History classes engaged in a friendly competition with Mrs. Wilson's and Coach Peevey's classes to see which grade could donate the most items to benefit local nursing homes. The initial goal was 75 blankets, and the donation drive ended with over 800 items collected. The "Bobcat Blessings" were given to Magnolia Manor and Calder Woods and supplied Christmas presents to each resident. Great job, Bobcats!
For the past two weeks, 7th graders in Mrs. Woods' classes have been Private Investigators trying to solve the case of the Missing Wedding Ring. They had to sift through evidence, use prior knowledge about weddings, and learn about motives. On Friday, students had a debate to prove their claim/thesis. The perpetrator was found!

This week, 8th graders in Mrs. Lovett's Art II class made Christmas ornaments. Students created a design, made it out of clay slabs, and glazed the finished pieces.





Over the weekend, the OJH Bobcats took part in the Groves tournament. The 8th graders came away with four victories and took home the 1st place trophy.

For those attending the OJH Basketball Tournament this Saturday the 16th:
Orangefield Parade will take place the morning of the 16th and will be blocking off sections of 105 starting at 9:30 AM. If you are planning on arriving after 9:30AM, you will need to avoid 408. If coming from Bridge City, continue on Roundbunch (1442) until 105. Approaching the school, take a left on E Ashford Park then a right on Ashford Chase Dr. to approach the school from the back.

Last night, three OJH teams traveled to Warren to take on the Warriors.
The 8th grade B-team was up first, and they came out slow in the first quarter only scoring 4 points. The Cats quickly picked up the tempo and pulled away from the Warriors, winning 25-6. Noah Gleason took charge on offense and led the way with 7 points and 3 assists. Case Comeaux and Kase White each had 4 points and several rebounds. Kaine Kendrick and Koa Sides chipped in 3 points and several steals. The win moves the Cats to 4-0 on the season and puts them in good shape to capture a district title.
The 7th grade A-team was next, and they were looking to stay undefeated in District. JC Doucet went to work early in the first, scoring 11. Kaysen Click led the way for the Bobcats. The Warriors had no answer for him down low as he dominated the boards and scored 17. Easton Locke and Kaleb Flory each chipped in 7 points with several assists. The defense was smothering, and it led to the 54-6 victory over Warren. The Cats are now 3-0 in District.
The 8th grade A-team was last, and the Bobcats jumped out early, scoring 26 in the first quarter. The press created most of the offense for the night and was led by Logan Anderson, Kyran Morrow, Jaxon Agerton, Gage Lucas, and Kolte Morgan. Luke Erickson dominated the rebounds for the Bobcats with 9 and scored 10 points. Morrow was the leading scorer at the top of the press with 15, followed by Anderson with 12. Agerton contributed 9 and Lucas had 7. Devin Cook had 6 and also went to work down low with Erickson. The Cats took the win, 70-30, which moves them to 8-0 on the year.
Next week, the Bobcats will be at home to host the Buna Cougars.
In November, 21 students in Mrs. Sheppard's OJH Business Information Management class passed the Microsoft Word 2019 Associate Certification exam. Congratulations to these students on earning their certifications!

Monday night, the OJH Lady Bobcats took on Warren at home.
The 8th grade B-team defeated the Warriors with a score of 13-2. Emma Bufford led the Bobcats with 4 points. Addison Leblanc also added 3 points. Millie Amy also contributed 2 points to the Cats' total. Melissa Saucedo pulled down 3 rebounds, while also adding 2 points. Addyson Cude was a defensive spark with 2 points and 2 steals. Jocelyn Droddy contributed 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal.
The 7th grade A-team defeated the Warren Warriors, 29-6. The team played a strong defensive game, with a combined total of 19 steals and 11 rebounds. Lakynn Granger finished the game with 11 points, 5 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Brooklyn Bishop added 8 points, 1 steal, and 2 rebounds. Ainsley McAlpin led in steals with a total of 7, 1 rebound, and 4 points. The 7th grade A-team is now 3-0 in District!
The 8th grade A-team wrapped up the sweep with a 29-18 win over the Lady Warriors. Teal Kibodeaux led in scoring with 13, including 2 threes. Paxton Oldham and Ava Josephson led in steals, each with four. Laila Agerton led in rebounds, pulling down six for the Bobcats. Kinsley Moore has shown great strides in her shooting game, nailing down two deep shots. Our Lady Bobcats held their composure, in what was the most physical game of the season. The 8th grade A-team is also 3-0 in District!
On Saturday, December 9th, OJH Student Council members volunteered to ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Bridge City Walmart. This is the third year Student Council has volunteered for bell ringing.

The OJH student led We Believers met this Thursday. Student, Millie Amy led the group as they watched The Christmas Story told by kids. Millie then led them in discussions about Mary and the history behind Mary being chosen to carry Jesus. The student led We Believers learned that Jesus picks the most unlikely people to carry out the biggest and best movements of God's Kingdom. The We Believers will continue learning about the birth of Jesus now through the last week of the semester.
