Reptiles and Birds and a Kinkajou, oh my!
On Tuesday, Lisa Broadway from Vidor Pets and Exotics paid a visit to Mrs. Castillo's 8th grade Principles of Ag class to show off a variety of different small animals. Students and staff got to learn about the origins of the animals, their classifications, and some of the documentation and processes they go through to be imported, all while getting to hold and pet the animals! There were 19 different species present from 6 different continents! Did you know that the Kinkajou, although it looks like a monkey, is actually a part of the raccoon family? Now you do!
Thank you again to Ms. Lisa from Vidor Pets and Exotics for taking time out of her day to share her knowledge and passion for these animals with our Bobcats.

On Tuesday, the OJH Bobcats took the field for the last game of the season against the East Chambers Buccaneers. The 7th graders were fighting to take home second place in District, and the 8th graders were looking to secure their undefeated District title.
The 7th graders were up first, and they wanted to bounce back from a tough loss on Thursday. The Bobcats jumped out early with a Kaysen Click touchdown run. Click would eventually score another touchdown and convert a two-point conversion as he commanded the offense throughout the game. Lawrence Steiner flashed his speed around the edge, scoring a pair of touchdowns. Andrew Burt converted one of those for a two-point conversion. The blocking up front by the offensive line, led by Caylum Johnson, Colt Guidroz, and Austin Erickson, enabled the backs to go to work. Easton Locke, Major Butler, and Zachary Ellis kept the Buccaneers at bay, as they controlled the edge and never let them get within striking distance. Great plays were made on both sides of the ball and the Cats took the win, 28-8, to finish out the season.
The 8th grade squad looked to finish their sweep of District opponents and ensure sole ownership of the district title. Jaxon Agerton had a monster game on Halloween night; he ran for two touchdowns and threw a deep ball that was caught by John Royer for a 52-yard score. Hunter Reeves and Hunter Block both ran hard all night, and each scored a touchdown. Kyran Morrow and Andy Rutledge each converted an extra point, driving the ball through the uprights. Defensively, Block also had an interception. John Royer, Case Comeaux, Korbyn Smith, and Grayson Rickenbrode played lights out, and never allowed the Buccaneers to gain traction. The Bobcats won, 33-14, and secured back-to-back District Championship titles.
