On Saturday, the OJH choir traveled to Groves Middle School to compete in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. 9 students prepared and performed solos for a judge. Kendra Hebert was awarded an Excellent rating. Madison Bright, Vanessa Ciancaglione, Joshua Jeanis, Chloe Leteff, Kaydence Leblanc, Sarah Parker, and Aubrey Pohorence all earned superior ratings and medals! Congratulations to all the students on their hard work this year.

A huge congratulations to our 8th Grade Science students for an incredible March Mammal Madness season! Through scientific research, analysis of adaptations, and evidence-based reasoning, students made predictions and defended their claims like true scientists. 🧠🔬✨

OJH Student Council is sponsoring an End-of-the Year Dance, held on Friday, April 24th from 6 to 8:30pm. Cost is $5 per person. Concessions will be available.

Attention OJH Parents/Guardians:
Just a friendly reminder that STAAR testing is this month! Tests fall on the following dates.
April 7th: Reading, 6-8 grades
April 14th: Science, 8th grade
April 15th: Social Studies, 8th grade
April 21st: Math, 6-8 grades
Please make sure your student’s Chromebook is fully charged, they get a good night’s sleep, and have a healthy breakfast in the morning. We want them to be at their best for the test! Please also note that visitors will not be allowed to eat lunch with students on STAAR testing days.

Congratulations to Orangefield Junior High students Brenham Valka and Gilbert Blacksher for earning the fifth six-week period's "Awesome Attendance Awards"!
Any student with two or fewer absences during the six-week grading period is eligible for the first attendance award. Brenham maintained exceptional attendance and will receive an electric scooter and MLB The Show for his Playstation 5 due to his consistent positive presence!
The second award recognizes a student from the grade level with the highest overall attendance. Our 6th grade class finished ahead of the 8th grade by 1%. Gilbert, a 6th grader with outstanding attendance, is taking home an electric scooter!
Great job, Brenham and Gilbert!

Orangefield Junior High is home to the hardest-working staff in Texas! Our faculty works tirelessly to provide a safe, effective learning environment for each and every student. Many of our faculty members received nominations for this spotlight, but we want to take a moment to specifically highlight one of our hardest workers: Jessica Vincent. For the past five years, Mrs. Vincent has served as an educational aide, making a lasting difference in the lives of our students. Whether stepping in to support struggling learners or confidently leading instruction herself, she consistently goes above and beyond. More than that, Jessica brings genuine care and passion to her role—she has been an inspiring mentor and a steady, positive influence for so many young people. Thank you, Mrs. Vincent, for your unwavering dedication and the heart you bring to our school every single day. We are truly grateful!

8th grade boys - Monday, April 6th.
7th grade girls - Thursday, April 9th.

Please make sure your child wears the appropriate garments. Girls need to wear hair up in a ponytail. Please contact the school nurse with any questions or concerns.

Yesterday our Junior High Symphonic Band performed at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. This group, comprised primarily of 7th graders, has been working since January to put together a stellar concert! It is with great pleasure that we announce our students earned an EXCELLENT rating on stage and a SUPERIOR rating in sight-reading! We are so proud of these students for all of their hard work and a special shoutout to all of the parents, friends, and family that came and supported our group as well! We believe!

On Friday and Saturday, Orangefield Junior High had 5 students participate in the 2026 ATSSB All-Region Clinics and Concert that they auditioned for in November. These students worked very hard and represented our school district very well! The directors are very proud of their accomplishments! Please join us in congratulating these students!
