Congratulations to Orangefield Junior High students Sophia Trammell, Lam Nguyen, and Cooper Sonnier for earning our final student spotlights of the year!

Our 6th grade class finished with the highest attendance rate for the sixth six weeks, and we are proud to recognize two students with perfect attendance. Sophia Trammell, a 6th grader with outstanding dedication to being present and engaged, is taking home a Lenovo laptop. Lam Nguyen is being awarded a Nintendo Switch Lite for consistently being a positive and reliable presence on our campus. Finally, Cooper Sonnier, a 6th grader promoting with highest honors, received a prize package in recognition of his hard work and academic excellence.

On Wednesday, our OJH 8th graders went on a field trip to Gator Country in Beaumont! The students had an absolute blast learning about not just alligators, but many animals. They were able to see and interact with alligators, snakes, rabbits, tortoises, and more!

Attention OJH Parents & Guardians: Some fun dates are coming up at Orangefield Junior High! This Friday, May 8th is the last $5 Fun Day, and next Friday, May 15th, is ice cream day! We are rounding out the school year and some exciting days are happening!

Also, a friendly reminder that visitors are not allowed to eat lunch with the students for the month of May. Lunches are still welcome to be dropped off on the table in the lobby.

On Monday night the OJH Theater dept hosted their spring review. The 6th grade class showed off their skills first with “Alice in Wonderland from the Queen’s point of view”. The theater 2 class took things up a notch with “How to Make a Sandwich in 20 Easy Steps Using a Time Machine”. Friends and family all enjoyed the shows. Congratulations to both groups for a successful year!!!

Monday night was a special night as the OJH choir dept showcased their Spring Revue. Sixth grade sang first with an eclectic mix of music genres, both groups and individuals showing off their talents. The last group to perform was the seventh and eighth grade contest choir who made Disney proud with all of their selections of both large and small group performances. Congratulations to both groups for a successful year!!!

Orangefield ISD was awarded a $2514.00 grant from the Foundation For Southeast Texas. The funds will be used to enhance the science curriculum at Orangefield Junior High.

This past Thursday, OJH hosted their annual “Swip Swap Day,” where students were encouraged to dress like their favorite staff member, and staff members dressed like their students. It was a fun day of laughs and lookalikes, and a great way to prepare for staff appreciation week!

On Tuesday, Orangefield Junior High held their annual solo and ensemble contest. Out of the 114 students that participated there were 72 students that received a rating of a 1 or SUPERIOR. There were also 2 students that not only received a Superior rating on their solo but an ensemble as well. Those students are Sophia Best and Emily Gilbert.

Finally, each judge selected an overall Outstanding Performer and the following students received that award:

On Monday May 4th, the OJH Theater department will showcase 2 plays for friends and family. The 6th grade will present "Alice in Wonderland (The Queens Point of View)” by Sara Feinberg and the Theater 2 students will perform “How To Make a Sandwich in 20 Easy Steps Using a Time Machine” by Brendon Main. The show will begin at 5:30pm in OJH gym with our spring choir concert to follow right after. Everyone is invited!!!!

Attention OJH Parents and Guardians: May 4–8 is Staff Appreciation Week! As we prepare to celebrate and recognize the incredible work of our staff, we’re inviting students to “walk a mile in their teachers’ shoes.”

On April 30, OJH will host our annual “Swip Swap Day,” where students are encouraged to dress like their favorite staff member, and staff members will dress like their students. It’s a fun way to kick off a week dedicated to showing appreciation for the educators who care for and support our students every day.

OJH students will take their final STAAR test next week on Tuesday, April 21st. Please note our campus will be closed to lunch visitors on this day.

April will be the final month for open lunch visits with guests. Our front lobby will remain open for lunch drop-offs at any time.
