
The Military and Social officers of the OHS Sophisticats attended the American Dance and Drill Team officer camp in Rockwall, TX this past week and learned many leadership and bonding skills to help this year’s team be successful. The officers had a wonderful experience and came home with the following awards:
Military officers received Diamond Sweepstakes for their home routine, camp dance and creative choreography routine. They also received Grand Champions of the week.
Social officers received Award of Excellence for the week, All American social officers for day one, Most Admired social team for day two, and Gussie Nell Davis award for the week.
Social officer President, Mina Webb, received Outstanding Social Officer.
All Americans honorable mentions:
Lt. Elyse Gunter, Lt. Tyia McKnight, and Vice President Lexi Baggett
Captain Blair Butler received All American, Outstanding Performer, and All American Dance Company.


Last night the 2024 Babe Didrikson Zaharias Awards Banquet was held.
Junior, Lincoln Parks was named Boys' Player of the Year.
Sophomore, Jordyn Rucker was a finalist for the Girls' Underclassmen Character award. She was nominated by fellow golf coaches out of all the golfers in the southeast Texas area. The award seeks individuals who epitomize leadership qualities not only in their athletic endeavors but also in their academic pursuits and community engagements.
Coach Ashlee Broussard was chosen as the Girls’ Coach of the Year by the coaches and organization.

Orangefield Students Sign with DOW Apprenticeship Program
The world-renowned DOW Sabine River Operations, offers acceptance into their apprenticeship program each year. The apprenticeship consists of hands-on work experience at one of DOW’s chemical plants, a company-paid associate’s degree from Lamar State College Orange, salary with competitive pay, paid holidays and vacation, medical insurance, and after 12 months of service a 401k plan.
With over 450 applications submitted to DOW for participation in the apprenticeship program, 10 were chosen. Of the 10 chosen, 3 were Orangefield High School Students. Colin Dale Dorman, Ethan Christopher Blackburn, and Ezequiel Yanez Macias were picked to be recipients into the DOW Apprenticeship Program.
Congratulations to DOW for choosing three fantastic young men and congratulations to Colin, Ethan, and Ezequiel for this life-changing opportunity.

Orangefield High School senior, Ava Dyer, signed to be a part of the preliminary colorguard team at LSU. She was a leader for the OHS colorguard, serving as captain. She is excited to continue at the collegiate level.


Congratulations to Kaitlyn Jenkins on placing 2nd in the state at the UIL competition in Austin for Computer Applications! We Believe!


Orangefield High School Top 10% and CTE representatives attended the Greater Orange Chamber of Commerce Honors Luncheon at the LSCO Shahan Center on Wednesday.

The Orangefield Independent School District High School Choir held their Spring Contest this evening. The students and their director Stephanie Pelham have worked extremely hard this year and it was wonderful to see them show what they can do.
The choir would like to thank the teachers, staff, and administrators for their undying support, not only this year, but every year.



The Orangefield High School Class of 2024 Valedictorian is Kaitlyn Jenkins and the Salutatorian is Logan Cheek.
Jenkins is a member of the volleyball team, National Honor Society, Interact Club, Art Club, and Student Council. She has been a member of UIL Academics teams throughout high school. She has advanced to the state competition in Computer Applications. She will be attending Tulane in the fall to major in Architecture.
Cheek is an athlete, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. He earned 1st Team All District his junior year in baseball and 1st Team Academic All State his senior year. He also earned 1st Team Academic All State for football his senior year. In addition to sports, he is a member of National Honor Society. Cheek will be attending Texas A&M University to major in Chemical Engineering.
