Our 2nd–5th graders kicked off their LEGO Education SPIKE adventures today! Students jumped right into building and coding everything from mini taxis to wild carnival rides.

Through hands-on challenges, they combined creativity, logic, and problem-solving to bring their designs to life. It’s amazing to see them apply coding concepts while engineering solutions to story-based problems.

We are so proud of their teamwork, curiosity, and enthusiasm for STEAM!

In this hands-on investigation, OES 3rd graders become paleontologists in reading class as they carefully “excavate” chocolate chips from cookies using simple tools—just like real scientists uncover fossils. This activity connects to our readings The Albertosaurus Mystery and Ötzi the 5,000-Year-Old Mummy, where students explore how experts study clues from the past to learn about dinosaurs, ancient humans, and Earth’s history. As students practice precision and patience during their cookie dig, they also strengthen key reading skills: identifying the central idea, using text and graphic features to gather information, and understanding story structure to explain how scientists make discoveries. This playful dig brings science to life while building confident, evidence-based readers.

Last night our 3rd graders took us back in time with their Schoolhouse Rock–themed performance, and they absolutely rocked the stage! From the energy to the classic songs we all know and love, they brought the nostalgia and the talent.

One of the highlights of the night was their performance of “3 Is the Magic Number” — the perfect song for our amazing 3rd graders! It couldn’t have been a more fitting moment, and they delivered it with so much joy and confidence.

A huge thank you to our students, parents, and staff who helped make the evening so special.

Orangefield Elementary is excited to team up with OJH and OHS for the Orange Lions Club Annual PB&J Challenge! From February 2nd through February 23rd, students are encouraged to bring in peanut butter and jelly to help fight hunger in our community.

The district with the highest pounds-per-student will bring home the trophy—so every donation counts!

We would love your support in helping our campus contribute as much as possible to this meaningful cause. Thank you for partnering with us to make a difference!

Orangefield Elementary celebrated students’ commitment to daily attendance with a special trip to The ORC skating rink. One hundred students from Pre-K through fifth grade enjoyed time on the rink, whether they were learning to skate for the first time or showcasing their skills. After skating, students enjoyed lunch before returning to campus. This event provided a fun and meaningful way to recognize and encourage consistent attendance.

Fourth-grade students completed their Native American Artifact project to close out their social studies unit on Native Americans in Texas. The students created an artifact made or used by a Native American tribe from one of Texas's regions. Along with the artifact, each student wrote a report about the tribe that included the culture, diet, shelter, and way of life of that particular tribe. The students enjoyed learning about the beginnings of this incredible state we call home!
